The intake manifold pressure sensor measures the absolute pressure in the engine intake system. It is located directly in the manifold or connected to it by a special pipe. It transmits the measured pressure value in real time as an electrical signal to the engine control unit. The data from the sensor, together with measurements from the flow meter and temperature sensor, are used to determine the optimum mixture composition for the engine supply.
The cause of sensor failure can be a defective measuring element, an electrical short, corrosion or mechanical damage.
Symptoms indicating that the sensor needs to be replaced include a noticeable drop in power and unstable engine operation, increased fuel consumption, fluctuating idle speed and a lit engine light on the dashboard.
